A Few Resources That Have Helped Me During the Coronavirus Pandemic

I feel like it’s hard to wax poetic about the times we are in and what is going on in the world right now without sounding like just another platitude.  And I hate platitudes.  But, I also realize that platitudes sometimes help people.  People like them.  It makes people feel better, even if just in the moment.

I’m in a city where we are now sheltering in place.  A month ago, I’d never even heard this phrase, and now I feel like I use it several times a day, and am getting way too familiar with it.

My favorite place in the whole world to go was the grocery store.  Now, it feels like a bit of a war zone and I have an anxiety attack even thinking about the next time I may have to go there.

Even though I am a homebody, I use to love the idea that there were hundreds of people driving around in my neighborhood every day, going about their lives and their business.  I love the hustle and bustle of a large city center, even if I rarely participate in it.  Now, it’s eerily quiet, and being in a city center seems to be a lot less safe as far as trying to avoid this virus.

Strange times, indeed.

When I am looking for solace or support, I turn to a few different things for comfort.  I love podcasts, they are like golden nuggets of information and you can find them on all sorts of topics.  I love to feel like I am prepared as best as possible in my own home.  I like to keep myself as healthy as I can so that I feel confident that my immune system is as strong as it can be.  And I LOVE ritual.  I feel like it helps me feel grounded and especially in difficult times, it keeps my mind from spiraling off into the abyss and black hole of negative thoughts.

I thought I would share just a few of the resources, products, and other info that has been helpful for me in the past few weeks, in case you may also find them useful in any way.

In addition, while I am at home, I am expanding my own knowledge base, practicing and doing a lot of home shoots, and using the opportunity to better my own photography skills so that I am ready to work with my favorite clients once we are on the other side of this.

Be safe, everyone, and take care of yourselves!
